Introduction to Auditory Processing Disorders provided by my school to build understanding of the needs of of students and classroom accommodations that assist the student. This was a very practical PD with a knowledgeable presenter. It caused me to think carefully about the level of background noise there is in my class & the impact this might have on some young people, especially with my tendency to have a lot of discussion during my lessons.

This Emotional Intelligence PD was useful in building my knowledge of Emotional Intelligence for the classroom. It was useful to confirm my impressions of how I tend to function and to gain insight on the impact these tendencies can have in team environments.

I acted as a judge for the 2016 Maths Talent Quest, assessing projects for 3 hours. It was enlightening to see how different students and teaching colleagues approach the project based nature of the MTQ. I was disappointed with the lack of imagination/variety shown this year. This PD opportunity has challenged me to ensure that my PBL and Inquiry learning provides my students with scope and challenge to really tackle the big questions that they do think about.
