One of the highlights for me of becoming a teacher is the seeking for & discovering of the right sort of resources to engage my learners. I use a wide range of resources from youtube clips, powerpoints, manipulatives, outdoor environments to stories, expert knowledge, Kahoot and Quizlets, and online calculators.
I am cautious of using ICT resources just because they are digital. 21st-century learners are skeptical of 'gimmicky' technology use. That said, even year 11's like a Kahoot or Quizlet. And of course everyone likes chocolate or food of some description. The driver for my resource selection is 'how can I best get my learners to engage and grasp the concepts we are working with?'
I have found social media a very useful platform for identifying useful resources either through following experts in education or my content areas or through engaging in professional discussions with other educators.
