Evidence that I assess learning:

Throughout my practice I have used various means of assessing student learning. In it's simplest form, my assessment takes the form of conversations with students to understand where their understanding and learning is up to. I am a firm believer in Carol Dweck's concept of '...Yet'. So many conversations shift a student from 'I can't do this' to 'I can't do this yet, but I will be able to one day.'

At a more formal level, I have used student log books and 'Maths Checkups' to monitor student learning over longer periods, to inform my teaching practice. Log books serve as a good way to discuss progress with a student, and scaffolds their learning through the process of investigations. Maths Checkups are a formative & diagnostic technique every lesson or two to monitor student understanding and progress.

In summative assessmnent I have used various forms of SACs & traditional tests to formally assess student learning. In teaching year 7 or 9 Mathematics I will also use Naplan data to reflect on the effectiveness of learning programs in my classroom.
